RAW St. Louis - RAWards Semi-Finals

9 local artists to go on to compete at the RAWards in Hollywood, the biggest indie arts show in the world!

*FILM *FASHION *MUSIC *PERFORMING ART *HAIR *MAKEUP *ACCESSORIES *PHOTOGRAPHY *VISUAL ART

25 local artists represent the St. Louis community at the LIVE Interactive Semi-Finals competition on Thursday, November 15th @ 7 p.m. @ The Coliseum in Midtown.

Over the course of two weeks RAW:natural born artists hosted an online nomination process for over 10,000 independent artists across the globe. The online popular vote per city determined the top 3 artists to represent St. Louis at the Semi-Finals Showcase in the following categories:

RAW:St. Louis Filmmaker of the Year

RAW:St. Louis Fashion Designer of the Year

RAW:St. Louis Musician(s) of the Year

RAW:St. Louis Visual Artist of the Year

RAW:St. Louis Photographer of the Year

RAW:St. Louis Hair Stylist of the Year

RAW:St. Louis Makeup Artist of the Year

RAW:St. Louis Performing Artist of the Year

The audience popular vote will consist of 50% and the scores of three local judges will consist of the other 50% to determine the RAW:St. Louis Artist of the Year in each category.

Judges are Debra Bass, Fashion Editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Andy Coco, Director of Production for KDHX, and Julie Malone, owner of SOHA Studio and Gallery.

Scores and votes will be tallied that evening and announced LIVE at the end of the showcase.

The final 9 artists of the year in each category will go on to represent St. Louis in the National RAWards competition!

MORE ON RAW: RAW:natural born artists is an independent arts organization, for artists, by artists. RAW’s mission is to provide independent artists of all creative genres, with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity. RAW connects artists with one another so that they might grow together. RAW Headquarters in based in Southern California but hosts RAW events in over 50 cities across the U.S per month from February-December. They also showcase their artists online via RAWartists.org

House of Style STL Shoot - Session #25

So last month, I participated in this fabulous event put on by House of Style. Looking at it from my eyes: House of Style is a group of people that go to several places throughout the US and provides a platform for photographers, models, hair stylists, wardrobe stylist, and make up artists. During these sessions, there are anywhere from 10-20 models, about 10 photographers, 2-3 makeup artists, 2-3 hair stylists, etc. You come to the location picked starting at around 10:00 am and you start getting your makeup and hair done if desired. What is amazing about this event is that all you are asked to do is tip your makeup and hair stylist about $5-10 for each look that you receive (That's amazing). You basically go and shoot all up and down the designated area.. You have great opportunities for great photos, different looks, but best of all NETWORKING. The event last until 7:00 pm so you can shoot for as long as you can hold out :) PPPSSTTT Modeling is hard work :)

Within 30 days, each photographer that you shoot with is required to send you about 4-5 edited photos.. You pay a certain amount (Like I paid $50) and I was able to work with 5 photographers.. Not only will I will great photos for a good price but I got to practice and network with others in this beautiful world of Fashion :)

Real Life - An Urban Musical Written and Directed by Joel P. King

Real Life is an amazing urban musical that explores the experiences of several individuals’ life experiences within the ghettos of the inner city. The main character Ray, has a test of faith as he experiences the truth of the ghetto, “the life he lives by, may be the life he dies by”. Identifying with the consequences and repercussions of life, his strong street nature has finally caught up with him which leads him to running for his life. Ray connects his fate with sense of abandonment from his parents, which comp

elled him to continue a senseless life of reckless behavior and deviant social patterns, hence giving up a scholarship, athletic fame and most of all fatherhood. Through the power of community, acts of faith and an enduring grandmother, Ray embraces redemption.
